And to celebrate it all we’ll take the stage this Saturday, December 14 at our local favorite haunt The Pinch during Port City Brewing Company’s Heavy Metal Night V. On top of an extra long Borracho set, there will be a fresh batch of Port City’s Borracho Smokin’ Brown Ale on hand, 2013′s best metal being spun by DCHeavyMetal.com’s Metal Chris, and all kinds of giveaways. We’re partying our way into 2014!
We’re thrilled to finally announce the vinyl release details for Oculus. The record is now available for pre-order from each of the labels or from our Bandcamp page where it can be streamed in full.

It’s a damn good day here at Casa Borracho. We’ve just unleashed our new beast on the world, and we’re about to hit the road with one of our favorite current bands, Lo-Pan for a run of shows that includes our own Oculus release show at Rock and Roll Hotel in DC, and culminates with an appearance at the Eye of the Stoned Goat fest in New York City.
Go listen to Oculus yourself, and if you dig it, lay down a paltry 5 bucks to own it! If you’re anywhere on our tour route, come to a show and see us at the merch table to get a FREE download card. Every show is a two-fer! See you on the road, friends!
Next week we’ll unleash our latest collection of new music, Oculus, for digital download. It’s currently streaming exclusively on Heavy Planet and will be available for download from major online retailers and our Bandcamp page on July 18. It will see a limited edition 12” vinyl release in the fall courtesy of our long-time label co-conspirators No Balls Records (Germany) and Strange Magic Records(US).
The recording marks Steve’s arrival as the band’s new lead vocalist after Noah moved abroad last year. We’ve been performing live as a trio since last July, and those of you who have caught us live already have a sense of what to expect. Steve brings new character and significant pipes of his own to the new record, and the approach is unchanged: a clear emphasis on riffs and rhythms, a barrel full of hooks, and an epic sensibility that gives lots of room for the rhythm section to breath while the guitars wail.
The tracklist is:
Know the Score 7:18
I’ve Come for it All 8:15
We’ll be celebrating the digital release on July 19 at Rock and Roll Hotel in Washington DC with our good friends Weed is Weed and Kingsnake, and Columbus Ohio’s pride, Lo-Pan, who we’ll be on the road with en route to the Eye of the Stoned Goat 3 festival in Brooklyn, NY. The DC show is presented by Heavy Planet and Port City Brewing Company. Check out all our summer tour dates on our shows page.
We’re proud to be working with Port City Brewing Company to create a limited edition beer—Borracho Smokin’ Brown Ale—to be released on May 18 at The Pinch in Washington, DC. The beer will only be available at the 18th of May show, so plan to be there if you want to taste it!
We’ve been working closely with Port City Brewing to custom design Borracho Smokin’ Brown Ale to our specifications. Starting with our collective favorite beer style, brown ale, the recipe was developed to also match our smoldering, dark and heavy sound.
Beer nerds rejoice! Borracho Smokin’ Brown Ale has smoky undertones derived from adding locally-grown and smoked barley malt to the mash. The smokiness is complemented with complex earthy and subtle roast flavors by including caramel and chocolate malt, and a touch of roasted barley. This brew is moderately hopped with Magnum and Fuggle hops to provide the right balance make it easy drinking. Borracho Smokin’ Brown Ale pours a dark brown color and is devilishly delivered at 6.66% alcohol by volume.
To mark the beer’s release, Port City, DCHeavyMetal.com and The Pinch will present a free night of riff-heavy live music. The May 18 show will kick off at 8:00 PM with Delaware’s Wasted Theory. The smoke will thicken for Maryland doomers WeedIsWeed, and Boston’s lethal Cortez will kill the stage before we play a steamy and likely drunken set.
We’ll be in Philly the night before with Cortez, so if you’re in the City of Brotherly Love, come out and rock with us.

Your support and enthusiasm for Borracho over the past couple of years has been nothing short of amazing. We are truly thankful for the opportunity to make and play music for you that gets your heart pumping, your head banging, and your mind reeling.
Those of you — particularly in the U.S. who have seen us play live in the past ten months or so — know that we’ve been performing without our intrepid front man Noah while he’s been abroad working. We’ve unveiled some new music during that time as an accidental trio, and last month we entered the studio to record that material for a new release to come out this year. But as we work on finishing this project, plan for it’s release, and book shows to support it, we’ve reached an unplanned crossroads as we learned that Noah will be abroad longer than originally planned. With his absence extended, we became less certain about how we could continue to provide the same high-quality low heavy groove live as we could in the studio. We knew we couldn’t and shouldn’t maintain one sound on recordings and another for our live shows. Something had to give.
So, it is with a heavy heart that we announce that Borracho will continue on for the foreseeable future without our brother Noah. Guitarist Steve Fisher has ably taken over vocal duties full time and our forthcoming releases will feature Steve on vocals. Our next record should give you, our fans, an accurate representation of what you can expect to see and hear when you come to a Borracho show. Noah is and remains fully embedded in the DNA of Borracho, and when he returns to the States will be welcomed back to the fold.
In the end, what we promise you is 110% of our efforts to assure every record and every show is as good as it possibly can get. It’s been our benchmark from Day One and will not change. Despite this unfortunate turn, we are really excited about the new material we’re working on and we hope you like it too. So join us in raising a tall frosty one to Noah and also to a bright future for the tres hombres Borracho!
Two 7” singles, two videos, a 10” single, and three compilation appearances after our debut LP Splitting Sky hit airwaves in June 2011, this weekend we entered the studio to lay down brand new music for a proper follow up release. We’ve reunited with Splitting Sky producer Frank Marchand at his brand new Hudson Street Sound studio in Annapolis MD to bring the same heavy crush you heard on the last one. The as-yet untitled record will be co-released on limited edition 12” vinyl by No Balls Records (Germany) and Ghost Highway Recordings (Spain) in June. We think you’re gonna like it!
Of course we’ve got a new 7″ dropping on March 12, featuring a couple previously unreleased tunes from our formative days. Please visit our Bandcamp page and give ‘em a spin. They are available in a limited edition of 150 each orange/black swirl and black vinyl. Get ‘em while they’re hot!
Last but not least, we’ll get back to playing a few shows in late March with new friends and old, and lining up some more killer shows beyond that. Swing by our shows page to see what’s brewing.
Stay tuned, and stay heavy!
