Rock-in 2012 with Borracho
The boys of your Borracho are blasting into the new year with just-announced dates in January and February.
Join us January 20 at DC’s Black Cat as we provide sonic support for the 15 speaker cabinet, 7,000 watt juggernaut duo that is Jucifer.
Then, the very next night, truck out to the infamous Jaxx Nightclub as we help celebrate the release of Dismal Hollow — the sophomore release from our boys in King Giant. A loud, southern-fried, stoned rumbler, this record is just fantastic and we’re looking forward to help bring it upon the masses with ample additional support from fellow horn-throwing troubadours The Crimson Electric. And as a special nod to the kids, this show is all ages.
In February, Borracho brings it straight to the heart of the keystone beast with our first show in Pennsylvania! All you central Pa. bitches head over to The Depot in York on the 10th for a serious, slow rocking with Thunder Fist, Kingsnake & Witch Hazel. Boom!
The Black Cat is located in Washington, D.C.. Jaxx Nightclub is located in Springfield, Va. The Depot is located in York, Pa.
Split the sky! Album release show this Friday
Your Borracho will officially celebrate the release of their critically acclaimed debut Splitting Sky as well as the release of the first 7″ single from the record, “Concentric Circles/Círculos Concéntricos,” at DC’s Velvet Lounge this Friday, December 16. Borracho will be joined by special guests Maryland’s melodic hard rockers Rezin, and Philadelphia area blues rockers Kingsnake.
In addition to the CD edition, which dropped June 28 on the band’s own The Livingroom Records imprint and worldwide via digital distribution, Borracho’s debut full-length album is now also available on 180g blue-splatter-on-clear vinyl, produced in limited quantities by Germany’s No Balls Records. The vinyl release — dubbed an “Instant Classic” by heavyplanet.net — is accompanied by hand-screened and numbered sleeves.
Adding another number to the stable, Spain’s Ghost Highway Recordings and DC’s own Fandango Records have come together to release the first single off of Splitting Sky in both English and Spanish. Concentric Circles/Círculos Concéntricos was released in October on 180g gold vinyl in both the US and Spain and is available in either English or Spanish sleeves.
New vinyl releases!
That’s right boys and girls. Borracho will bring in October with not one, but TWO new vinyl releases. First, the much anticipated release of Splitting Sky on blue-splatter wax with hand-screened sleeves of all original art from STE will hit the shores of the US next week. While a firm release date is not being promised, there may be copies on-hand for the band’s September 21 appearance with Karma to Burn at the Rock and Roll Hotel in DC. Fans in Europe can order directly from No Balls Records starting around September 26, and the LP will be available directly from the band in the music section. Contact us at info@borrachomusic.com
And, as a treat to our Latin American and Spanish fans, a limited edition 7″ release of “Círculos Concéntricos” — the Spanish version of the album track Concentric Circles — is being released jointly on Fandango Records in the US and Ghost Highway Recordings in Spain, and will be available through both labels and our site in the music section on or around September 30. Grab a copy while you can. For you collectors, 150 copies will have sleeves in Spanish, and 150 will have sleeves in English. Grab one of each!
UPDATE: Now buy all our merch right here! Click on the “Store” link on the right of every page to buy the new wax, t-shirts, and more. You’re welcome!

The exclusive vinyl-only cover of Splitting Sky

The LP will be pressed on 180 gram clear/blue swirl wax, with a custom designed cover by Comic artist STE that will be hand silk screened in three colors and hand numbered. Only 200 copies will be released worldwide, available directly from No Balls or from the band only.

Wanna hear more? Here’s two more exclusive streams!
Thanks to all of you who have checked out the recent reviews and exclusive streams of “All In Play” and “Grinder” on Heavy Planet and The Soda Shop, respectively. We’ve had such a great response to those tracks that we decided to share a little more before the release of Splitting Sky on June 28.
So, please visit our Facebook page and check out “Concentric Circles” on the double! Our new friends at Heavy Planet have declared, “The song is a showcase of the band’s ability to balance power with finesse…they seamlessly flow from a machinegun riff to a steady groove into a bluesy guitar solo and back again. Be warned, this song is absolutely infectious and will have you moving and flailing regardless of where you’re listening.”
And, for your immediate listening pleasure, have another exclusive listen right here to “Grab The Reins.” If you haven’t seen The Soda Shop’s review of Splitting Sky yet, they praise the track for having “probably one of the most catchy riffs on the whole album. It’s an 11 minute riff fest that when the track ends, feels like it was only about 2 minutes long.”
Hope you keep liking what you’re hearing. We’ll have one more exclusive track coming soon on a site we hope you know well, The Obelisk! Let us know what you think below in the comments, or better yet share these links with your friends!
…and the record is called…. Splitting Sky
We’ll be rolling out more info over the coming days, but a quick update to share the cover, tracklist, and release date of our first record. We’re really proud of the piece of music we created in Splitting Sky.

Borracho debut LP Splitting Sky cover revealed
The album’s 8 tracks encompass 57+ minutes of music that are best experienced together, as a record, but stand well on their own. With two epics over 11 minutes, and four of the remaining six tracks clocking in between 6 – 9 minutes, Splitting Sky is more concerned with taking you on a journey through moods, tempos and feels like your favorite classic records than having a single track that appeals to everybody.
1 Redemption 1:37
2 Concentric Circles 3:21
3 Bloodsucker 7:37
4 Grab The Reins 11:05
5 All In Play 8:23
6 Never Get It Right 6:53
7 Grinder 6:34
8 Plunge/Return 11:35
The album will be available on June 28 online through our site, CD Baby, iTunes, Bandcamp, and other download sites. We’ll be announcing some exclusive streaming tracks in the next couple of days where you can sample a different track from the record on three of our favorite stoner rock blogs — The Obelisk, Heavy Planet, and The Soda Shop.

Studio clip video, Bloodsucker preview & record update
Fittingly, on the day we got first mixes from Frank for the record, I just happened to have made this video from footage and photos I shot on my phone during the studio sessions last month. So enjoy this small glimpse into our sessions, and a small taste of the song Bloodsucker while we enjoy listening to these mixes. We’re also working on the album art, with our own Tim designing all the packaging, and are in preproduction for a video for the song Concentric Circles.
Recording for Borracho debut LP wraps
2011 is starting out big for Borracho. The band just completed tracking their as-yet-untitled debut album with Frank Marchand at the board at Airshow Studios in Takoma Park, Maryland. With a bevy of epic, sprawling, 70′s inspired but modern sounding tunes at the ready, Noah, Steve, Tim and Mario entered the studio with high expectations. After 50-odd hours the foursome emerged with a 60+ minute, sonically devastating, and musically captivating work of utter heaviness.
Main songwriters Steve and Noah drew upon deep influences spanning multiple decades and genres—from Clutch to Fu Manchu to Sabbath to Down—in crafting the music and lyrics for the record. The band then added their own brand of soaring musicality and subterranean propulsion to the mix. The vision for the record crystallized as soon as Marchand entered the fold. With a portfolio of classic Maryland doom and stoner rock records under his belt—including Hellhound Records’ “Asylum” and “Balance of Power” from Unorthodox, and “Center of the Universe” and “Life Out There” from Wretched— Frank brought his incredible talents and impeccable taste to the project, helping the band establish layered tones both honey sweet and sequoia thick, that are normally so difficult to capture.
While mixing and mastering of the record is still a couple weeks away, the band is busy booking shows near and far to support the release of their debut. An initial limited release on CD will come out on the band’s own Livingroom Records imprint while they shop it to labels, and will be available at live shows, and the band’s website, and through CD Baby, and for download through iTunes, Bandcamp, and other electronic outlets. At least one 7″ single is planned for release in the summer on Germany’s No Balls Records, with other opportunities being explored.
Look for more news on the record, shows, and other updates right here, on our Facebook page, or on Twitter.
Du Brut join forces with Borracho & The Jones for a night of kick-ass rock & roll!
Du Brut is a collection of four of the most talented and charismatic Rock N’ Roll musicians Richmond, VA has to offer. Their passion and energy can be felt as they rip through a Hard Rock anthem as well as when they temper through an acoustic ballad. This will be their second time in the nation’s capital while they continue their conquest of the northeast. Their independent efforts have already garnered them accolades from Rolling Stone magazine, Spectra Records, WNRN, WRXL & WHAN. Check them out at www.facebook.com/DuBrut.
The Jones are a power trio that continues to attract audiences of devoted fans throughout DC, NY, and Philly who cannot get enough of the band’s unique hybrid sound of Blues and Rock and Roll, music not heard since the late sixties/early seventies. Their style reminiscent of the past with influences that include The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, and Guns n’ Roses, yet reveals a relevance to the present with further sound resonances of recent bands such as The Black Crowes, The Black Keys, and Nirvana. More info on The Jones at www.thejonesmusic.com.
Borracho cements the heavy side of the spectrum on the bill, with songs that reflect a classic rock sensibility, throaty vocal melodies, epic metal arrangements, and a slow-and-low, repetitive groove that keeps heads bobbing and devil horns pumping in the air. The band includes members of local rock ambassadors Assrockers and Adam West, but don’t expect the same swaggering tongue-in-cheek hard rock. Borracho brings a darker and more brooding style to the proceedings.
DC’s Borracho host a night of hard rocking, fist-pumping, whiskey-drinking mayhem
DC’s Borracho host a night of hard rocking, fist-pumping, whiskey-drinking mayhem at the Velvet Lounge on December 9. Joining Borracho on the bill, and bringing the heavy from Boston for the first time is Black Thai, on their first east coast tour. The band is made up of members of Boston’s We’re All Gonna Die and Cortez, and that pedigree shines through. The small sampling of material from the band’s demo is devastating. Also joining the bill is Maryland’s El Grande. Come early, drink heavily, and go home satisfied. This is going to be a night of pure, unadulterated, rip-your-face-off rock!
A night of hard rocking, headbanging, beer drinking chaos
DC stoner rock heads Borracho host a night of hard rocking, headbanging, beer drinking chaos at Velvet Lounge on May 7. Bringing their soulful southern swing to the proceedings is NYC’s best and most consistently badass rockers The Brought Low. The Brought Low are out in support of their brand new album “Third Record” on Small Stone Recordings. They are fresh off of a commanding performance at Small Stone’s showcase at SXSW 2010 in Austin, and burning bright. Rounding out the bill will be Maryland’s El Grande.
Classic Hard Rock Comes to the Mid-Atlantic

Washington, DC – May 19, 2009 – Brand new heavy music will be the feature for three nights in June when Portland Maine’s Sun Gods in Exile join Washington DC’s Borracho in Richmond, DC, and Frederick, MD in support of Sun Gods’ debut album Black Light White Lines.
Beginning June 11 at Nara Sushi in Richmond, VA, the two bands will take their show to The Red and The Black in DC on June 12, and on to Krug’s Place in Frederick MD on June 13.
While Sun Gods are known in their native Maine and the northeast, this is their first jaunt to the mid-Atlantic. Their debut album will be released on June 9, on Small Stone Records and will be followed by a flurry of shows, of which these three are the first. But they are no strangers to the road, having played SXSW in March, shared stages with contemporaries in Maine and Massachussetts, and members having served time in the monolithic Maine band Ocean and Boston’s Cortez.
Black Lights White Lines is described by stonerrock.com as “straightforward classic hard rock that’s pretty much solely preoccupied with cheap booze, cheaper blow, dirty women, and good times,” and furthermore “This is what it would sound like if Ted Nugent stormed the stage at an Allman Brothers show and then proceeded to rip solos over everything; verses, choruses, intros, outros, everything. This is the sound of electric guitars sweating in the humidity of a hot August evening down in the bayou.” Not much more needs to be said about that. It needs to be heard to be experienced.
Borracho will be playing material from their forthcoming debut record, which is currently being recorded in an undisclosed location in Arlington, VA. The band includes members of local rock ambassadors Assrockers and Adam West, but don’t expect the same swaggering tongue-in-cheek hard rock. Borracho brings a darker and more brooding style to the proceedings. They released a 7” split single with Adam West in October 2008. This limited edition release of “Rectify” on No Balls Records (Germany) hints at what the band has in store in their upcoming release.
